Guidelines for Responding to Harassment Situations

The goal of HÄLY 2026 is to provide every participant with a safe, inclusive and positive camp experience. A safe environment is created together through the actions of every camper, staff member and volunteer, by treating others with respect, and by being willing to intervene in inappropriate behaviour.

This page contains the HÄLY 2026 guidelines for responding to harassment situations. The purpose of these guidelines is to prevent bullying, sexual harassment and other inappropriate behaviour, while providing clear procedures for dealing with situations where such behaviour occurs. The guidelines also explain how cases of inappropriate behaviour are handled and outline the procedures related to reporting matters to the authorities when necessary.

In addition, they contain more detailed guidance intended especially for camp staff and those serving in positions of responsibility. These procedures help prevent harassment, ensure that incidents are handled consistently, and make sure that everyone involved is treated fairly and appropriately.

Bullying, sexual harassment and any other form of inappropriate behaviour are not tolerated at the camp. Everyone shares responsibility for helping to create a safe environment and should respond to inappropriate behaviour within the limits of their own role and abilities. When needed, the camp’s designated trusted adults are available to support the handling of such situations.

A shared understanding of these procedures helps make HÄLY 2026 a safe, welcoming and respectful camp for everyone.
