Who must pay the camp fee, and does it apply to all participants?
Each participant pays the camp fee. The fee covers the mandatory costs of the camp, such as infrastructure, meals, and the shared program.
An exception is participants under 3 years of age, who do not use the camp’s services to the same extent. As a rule, they eat their own food and move around with their guardian during the camp.
The camp fee is invoiced to the fire brigades, and the practices for handling the payment may vary between brigades. Therefore, it is recommended to contact the responsible persons in your own brigade for more detailed instructions.
Where do I report changes to health information or special diets after registration?
If there are changes to health information or special diets after registration, you can report them directly by email to ilmoittautuminen@haly2026.fi.
How are washing facilities and shower opportunities arranged for young people?
Separate washing facilities are provided for young people, with the possibility for daily hygiene. After camp days, it is pleasant to wash and freshen up in order to have energy for the next day’s program. The washing facilities are located within the camp area, are easily accessible, and their use is smoothly organized as part of daily camp life.
Please note that the camp organizer does not provide toiletries such as shampoo or shower gel. Remember to pack them from home!
How are young people coming from abroad assigned to courses?
Young people coming from abroad are assigned to the same courses as Finnish participants, so that the theoretical parts are organized separately for them, while the practical exercises are carried out together with the Finnish course participants.
Do participants eat using disposable dishes or their own utensils at the camp?
Meals at the camp are organized either by fire brigade or by course (depending on the meal). Each participant uses their own utensils throughout the entire camp week. This helps reduce waste and keeps daily camp life running smoothly.
After each meal, there is an opportunity to wash one’s own dishes, and they must be cleaned after every use. Washing stations are located near the dining area, and dishwashing is part of the camp’s daily routines. Let’s maintain good hygiene throughout the camp week!
How can tents be heated during the camp?
Tents can be heated in the usual ways, for example with gas heaters or wood-burning stoves. Firewood will most likely be available at the camp area for a small fee – more detailed information will be provided later.
A separate heating permit is required for all heating equipment. The camp safety team will issue the permit after a safety inspection round. During the inspection, the safety of the heating setup will be checked. A spark guard must be used regardless of the heating method.
The area surrounding the heater must be safe and protected with fireproof material, such as a fire blanket. In addition, every heated tent must have a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide and/or gas detector, and at least one piece of first-response firefighting equipment.
