Who needs to pay the camp fee?

Every participant is required to pay the camp fee. The fee covers the camp’s mandatory costs, such as infrastructure, meals, and the shared programme.

An exception applies to participants under the age of three, as they do not use the camp services to the same extent. They will generally eat their own food and stay with their guardian throughout the camp.

The camp fee is invoiced to the fire brigades, and the payment procedures may vary between brigades. Therefore, we recommend contacting the responsible persons in your own fire brigade for more detailed instructions.

What should I do if I want to make changes to my registration?

If you would like to make changes to your registration, please contact us by email at ilmoittautuminen@haly2026.fi. We are happy to assist you with any registration changes, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What should I pack?

We recommend packing everything listed on the official packing list. In particular, remember weather-appropriate clothing, a change of clothes, personal hygiene items, eating utensils, a water bottle, and any equipment required for your course.

How are shower and washing facilities arranged for young participants?

Separate washing facilities are available for young participants, allowing them to take care of their daily hygiene. After a full day at camp, it’s nice to be able to wash up and freshen up before the next day’s activities. The washing facilities are located on the camp site, are easily accessible, and their use is smoothly organised as part of everyday camp life.

Please note that the camp organisers do not provide personal hygiene products such as shampoo or shower gel. Remember to pack your own!

What services are available at the camp?

The camp offers a variety of services, including cafés, grill stands, the HÄLY Shop, the camp hospital, the information point, and a phone charging station. In addition, there is a camp radio and a range of leisure activities available throughout the camp. At the cafés and the HÄLY Shop, you can pay with cash, a bank card, MobilePay, or your CoreGo wristband.

Is there a charging station at the camp?

Yes. There is a dedicated charging station on the camp site, located near the information point next to the camping area. However, we recommend bringing your own power bank if possible. Power banks can also be charged at the charging station.

How do meals work?

Meals at the camp are organised either by fire brigade or by course, depending on the meal. Every participant uses their own eating utensils throughout the entire camp week. This helps reduce waste and keeps everyday camp life running smoothly.

After every meal, participants can wash their own eating utensils, and they should be cleaned after each use. Dishwashing stations are located near the dining area, and washing up is part of the camp’s daily routine. Remember to maintain good hygiene throughout the camp week!

Is swimming available during the camp?

Yes. Camp participants will have the opportunity to swim at Masku Riviera on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Camp transportation to the beach will operate primarily on a non-stop basis or, if necessary, at short intervals between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Each fire brigade is responsible for the supervision and safety of its own participants under the guidance of a designated responsible adult. The camp organizers do not provide lifeguard supervision at the swimming beach.

What should I do if I become ill?

If you become ill or are injured during the camp, inform your fire brigade’s responsible adult or the nearest adult immediately. The camp has a 24-hour camp hospital where you will be assisted by doctors and other healthcare professionals. If you take regular medication, please follow the instructions provided before the camp regarding the storage of your medication.

What should I do if I arrive at the camp later?

If you arrive at the camp after the official arrival time (for example, on a different day), please report first to the camp security staff at the camp entrance. They will provide you with your camp pass and any additional instructions you need to join the camp.

How are young participants from abroad assigned to courses?

Young participants from abroad are assigned to the same courses as Finnish participants. The theory sessions are organised separately for them, while the practical exercises are carried out together with the Finnish course participants.

What equipment do I need for my course?

Equipment requirements vary depending on the course. Please review the equipment list for your course well before the camp. For all courses, it is recommended to bring a daypack containing at least a water bottle, eating utensils, and note-taking supplies. As training takes place mainly outdoors, be prepared for changing weather conditions.

How are tents heated during the camp?

Tents may be heated in the usual way, for example with gas heaters or wood-burning stoves. Firewood will most likely be available on the camp site for a small fee – more information will be provided later.

A separate heating permit is required and will be issued by the camp’s Safety Team after a safety inspection. During the inspection, the heating arrangement is checked to ensure that it is safe. A fire watch must be maintained regardless of the heating method used.

The area around the heat source must be safe and protected with fire-resistant material, such as a fire blanket. In addition, every heated tent must be equipped with a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector and/or gas detector, and at least one piece of first-response firefighting equipment.

Can I leave the camp site?

Young participants are not allowed to leave the camp site on their own. They may leave only with permission from their responsible adult and while accompanied by an adult. This helps ensure the safety of all camp participants throughout the camp.

Where can I follow updates from the camp?

You can follow the atmosphere and latest news from the camp through the HÄLY 2026 WhatsApp channel, the camp’s social media channels, and by listening to the camp radio from the comfort of your home. The channels will feature the latest announcements, photos, videos, and updates throughout the camp week.

Is there an open visiting day at the camp?

Yes. Parents, guardians, and other family members are warmly welcome to the camp’s visiting day on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. During the visiting day, you can explore the camp site, experience the camp atmosphere, and meet your camper. How is the safety of camp participants ensured?

Safety is the foundation of everything we do at the camp. Young participants are cared for by the responsible adults from their own fire brigade, instructors, trusted adults, and the rest of the camp organisation. The camp also has a 24-hour camp hospital, and an experienced safety organisation is responsible for ensuring safety throughout the entire camp.
